Public Information Officers in ICS handle external communications, ensuring the public and the media receive accurate, timely information about the incident. They coordinate messaging with the Incident Commander and other command staff and oversee how information is disseminated through press briefings, social media, and official channels. This role focuses on what the public needs to know and how it’s communicated, not on internal planning, logistics, or medical operations.
